Achaari Braised Beans

Warm up with this cozy bowl of Achaari Braised Beans, ready in minutes with pantry staples. What sets this bean recipe apart from the rest is that it gets its umami kick from a 1/2 jar of our Tomato Achaar and a touch of Roasted Garlic Achaar.

Serves 4


2 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for drizzling

1 medium onion, quartered and thinly sliced

2 teaspoons Roasted Garlic Achaar

1/2 cup Tomato Achaar

1 cup diced or crushed tomatoes

2 (15-ounce) cans cannellini or butter beans, drained and rinsed

1 cup water

cilantro, chopped for garnish


In a sauté pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sauté onion for about 5 minutes, stirring from time to time until softened and lightly browned. Turn the heat to medium. 

Stir in Roasted Garlic Achaar and sauté for a minute. Add in Tomato Achaar, tomatoes, beans and water. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat and cook until sauce thickens, stirring occasionally, about 5-10 minutes. 

Garnish with cilantro and a generous drizzle of olive oil.

Serve with buttered toast.
